CATCH UP

June and July are by far our busiest months, not only because everyone is out of school or on vacation, but because as PNWers, we know the importance of soaking up the sun, and even more, the importance of sunscreen.

Friends are grabbing sandwiches on their way to the park, Zootunes or their favorite hiking spot. It’s peak season for fruits, vegetables and lavenderrrrr. Plus FIFA, 4th of the July and our 3rd Anniversary are back-to-back, which for us means IT IS (finally) OFFICIALLY SUMMER!!!

You might want to sit down, because what we are about to throw your way may blow your hair back.

What’s better than pork belly once? Twice!! (more on that shortly) Currently, we have a delectable crispy pork belly sandwich on the SPECIAL’s board - skin on! Slow roasted until tender, fried until crisp, with pickled hibiscus onion, aioli, crisp lettuces and tomatillo-avocado salsa. She’s messy, but worth it. Available through Sunday or until supplies last.

Our summer menu is live! (will it change again before fall? Signs point to yes. How much, how little, you ask? Reply hazy, ask again later - only Avery knows the answer.) Drool worthy pics below.

SAVE THE DATE

For one day, and one day only, JULY 4, Avery’s hot dog stand will be back! Snake River Farms smoked hot dogs and a condiment bar, because who doesn’t like to build their own dog? Will Avery build you his fav, sure! Why not, he is now currently on two feet, and in two shoes. If that doesn't tickle your fancy, perhaps olive oil strawberry shortcake will!? Whipped cream and all!

We’ll admit it, parties are not our thing - however, celebrating how far we have come (6.5 years since the food truck, 3 years at the shop!) and looking back at all of the moments that got us from there to here, that we can do. This year, on our 3rd Anniversary, we are going old school, and you can find the PRECOCIOUS PIGGY (aka Notorious PIG) on the specials board from
July 6-12! Y’all phone a friend - and then call Zoe Kahn because we are also bringing banana pudding back! If that isn’t enough, we’ll have lavender lemonade and perhaps a funfetti sheet cake or two!

Summer hats just landed at the shop. AS Colour Surf hats, crafted from lightweight, quick-dry 100% recycled nylon. Mid-profile, unstructured snapback featuring a single front panel, Layers logo and SEA on the side.

LASTLY (spillin’ the beans)

We applied for a grant to help bring a full espresso program to Layers, and we are officially manifesting.

For years we've felt espresso was the missing piece, and many of you have reminded us regularly (and enthusiastically) that you'd love to see it happen too.

So if you're into positive thoughts, good vibes, crossed fingers, wishing on stars, or whatever your preferred method may be, we'd appreciate you sending a little espresso energy our way.

Because espresso machines are expensive. Like, really expensive. Especially when you're dreaming about a La Marzocco. Here's hoping!
